A year-long makeover of their main living area started off with their kitchen and dining area. They decided to mix up three colours – green, blue and grey. With the help of staff at their local Resene ColorShop they chose the colour scheme and went to work.
In the kitchen they painted the walls with Resene Happy Hour. Petra and Milan say the name of this paint is chosen really well as this colour indeed makes them feel happy. It works well with the antique white cabinetry and concrete grey counters and gives this space a boost.
For the dining area they chose Resene Moby, which goes so well with the Resene Happy Hour and gives a nice contrast.
For the house entrance area, they chose Resene Half Jumbo, a toned down option, which complements the vertical post wrapped in manila rope. All three colours create a perfect balance.
The inspiration for their lounge came from habitat magazine issue 28. The cover featured plywood planks painted in multiple colours looked awesome so they decided to do something similar. After painting a sample plank with Resene Moby, Resene Half Jumbo and Resene Alabaster they decided that this wouldn’t work for their area because of the multiple colours already in the kitchen/dining area. Instead they decided to use Resene Moby only as the planks themselves gave such a nice backdrop.
The only ugly duckling is the old heat pump in the living room which they plan to replace with a new gas fireplace in the future.
Thanks to Petra and Milan.
