Perfect outdoor living

So much can be done to enhance these areas with a bit of imagination and a little know-how.

Pavers, Furniture and Decks

If concrete pavers are not looking their best, Resene Deep Clean can easily be applied to slowly clean the surface over winter. Come spring apply Resene Concrete Stain for a fresh new look for your pavers. Resene Deep Clean also be used on canvas chairs or awnings through to large areas like painted fences which can then be painted with Resene Lumbersider to give them a brand-new look.

Painted furniture can be cleaned with Resene Paint Prep and Housewash for a fresh new look and stained furniture and decks will come up as new cleaned with Resene Timber and Deck Wash. If the timber colour has faded, they can be given a freshen up with products like Resene Kwila Timber Stain or Resene Woodsman Decking Oil Stain.

Concrete Walls and Planters

If you have a concrete or plastered wall, consider adding some texture with Resene Sandtex or repainting in Resene AquaShield, for a stunning soft, Mediterranean finish that is self-cleaning. For a touch of Provence, use complex shades of Resene Ravine, Resene Half Innocence or Resene Quarter Chicago.

Stools and Furniture

Get creative with upcycled furniture repeating small touches of the pot plant colours at the bottom of the legs or as stripes across the top of a table, or stools, to resemble French grain sacks. Washi Masking Tape from Resene ColorShops is perfect for these details giving a clean sharp line. If the furniture has old varnish on it, simply give it a light sand first and apply Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer followed by Resene Lustacryl for a hard-wearing finish.

Soft whites like Resene Thorndon Cream or Resene Milk White are stylish with accent colours applied as stripes on top.

Alternatively, if the furniture is going to be stored inside you could use Karen Walker Chalk Colour which covers really well to most surfaces without the use of a sealer. For a wax finish coat, use Karen Walker wax available in a soft or vintage finish or you could use Resene Aquaclear, a waterbased varnish available in a range of finishes from satin to high gloss.

Final Touches

Don’t stop at furniture for stripes or even stencilled designs; Resene testpots work just as well on coffee sack cushions or fabric cloths and throws. How about an old crate or wooden box decorated to match, ready to fill with wine, snacks or barbecue seasonings?

Then sit back, relax and enjoy your outdoor space all year round.
