Growing together

Community group, Project Lyttelton, and Soil and Health Canterbury had an exhibition garden at the Christchurch 2009 International Ellerslie Flower Show, showcasing organic gardening, community gardening and recycling. We used recycled iron to create the fence (cut in the outline of the Port Hills crater rim) and some simple planters. The iron came in lots of dull and chipped colours so it was badly in need of paint. We were extremely thrilled when we won a bronze medal and certainly Resene was part of the team of people that made it happen. Thank you very much for that!

Masking it

I thought you might like to know that Rotary Park School students in Dunedin have made a collection of Dr Seuss book character masks using Resene paints and masks from Maskworx. The children are so proud!

Beachy makeover

Just thought you might like to see some photos of the interior of our house. We recently painted our wooden walls in Resene Sea Fog – it looks stunning! Our challenge was to change our alpine-style dark, aged, orange wood walls into a fresh beach house style. I did a fair bit of research online and could not find anywhere images of wood of our style painted. As soon as I walked into our house I instantly loved it. It has been transformed .
Anna Tunnell; congratulations to our winner this issue.

Not just a pipe dream

When faced with the question, ‘why we make art?’, Room 11 at Te Mata Primary School [Havelock North] not only studied famous and favourite artists but studied colour and how it affects us. I wanted the children to produce a piece of work for our community and donate it to our new garden. We learnt how to write formal letters and wrote to our caretakers, gardeners, principal and local plumbers and Resene, of course, asking for help with resources and permission. We combined all the knowledge and inspiration we had learnt and this was the final result! The children worked with a buddy taking turns to paint and hold the pipes upright. They’ve been an absolute hit in the school.
Catherine Jurgens, Te Mata art teacher
