Show your stripes

Transforming your teen’s bedroom into one that reflects their unique style and interests is a great way to connect with one another – and helping them to pick out the perfect Resene paint colours is a great place to start. This room has an energetic vibe that’s straight out of a skater girl or boy’s dreams. When it comes to a creative colour combo like this one, it’s all about the details. With a neutral base, including floorboards in Resene Triple Alabaster and a side wall in Resene Alabaster, this space comes alive with a back wall in Resene Scandal and sporty stripes in Resene Freelance. A bookshelf in Resene Bismark and Resene Blackjack creates contrast while bold accents such as boxes in Resene Freelance and Resene Eye Candy and a plant pot in Resene Alabaster punctuate the space. The skateboard in Resene Eye Candy, Resene Alabaster and Resene Bismark is the icing on the cake.

Arched elegance

A number of trends have been brought together in this eclectic dining room, resulting in a unique space for entertaining that’s chockful of character. The wall features two trendy lilac hues, Resene Dreamtime and Resene Mozart, while classic colours like black, white and grey help them to look less ‘pretty’ and more sophisticated. A painted arch in Resene Black and Resene Alabaster visually expands the space, creating the illusion that there is another room beyond. It also brings attention to the painted shelf in Resene Dreamtime, which displays artwork and treasures. The wavy line on the lampshade, painted in Resene Black, imitates the thick line of the arch despite it being a different shape. The floor, painted in Resene Half Stack, features a circular painted rug in Resene Alabaster to define the dining area.

Batten down

Batten walls are a popular on trend choice, but they don’t have to surround the entire space – nor do they have to go all the way from floor to ceiling. Instead of a headboard, this bedroom uses battens to create an interesting focal point above the bed. Oceans of light and airy white bedding has been layered with more textures and stormier shades that pull the colours of the artwork out into the room. The side table in Resene Fast Forward plays up the greener undertones that are present in the dark accent cushion, while the vase in Resene Mystery and the lamp base in Resene Raindance meet it halfway to bridge the gap in contrast between it and the Resene White Island walls and Resene Quarter Concrete floor. The result is an easy, breezy space that’s steeped in style.
