How to paint new paperfaced plasterboard walls - preparation

Note: Refer to the PDF flowchart for a visual of the steps below:

  1. Stopped and sanded with paperfaced and stopping compounds visible

  2. Do you want Level 4 or Level 5 finish?

    1. Level 4 finish:
      1. Proceed to step 3...
         
    2. Level 5 finish:
  3. Wet areas or kitchen?

    1. Yes:
      1. Resene Waterborne Sureseal or Resene Smooth Surface Sealer
    2. No:
      1. Resene Broadwall Acrylic Wallboard Sealer
  4. Lightly sand using 220 grit zinc stearate sandpaper

  5. Refer to room flow charts
