Auckland
A fun, funky reading nook was created for a boy’s room to provide a place to enjoy and retreat to in times of chaos when a little bit of calm and 'me' time is needed.
The colours were chosen to brighten up an otherwise dull, redundant corner of a bedroom. Fresh, bright and fun was the aim, to match a bubbly five year old personality. The colours needed to pop, and serve as a feature background for cube shelves and funky furniture.
The bright blue of Resene Picton, traditionally depicted as being a ‘boy’ colour, was deliberately combined with burnt, deep, dark crimson Resene Lonestar, soft lemon Resene Moonbeam and funky, bright green Resene Wham. The scheme was lacking one colour, and that was the orange, that was added last. Teamed with the stark Resene Alabaster white in between the stripes the colour contrast helped the colours to pop and complement each other. In a happy accident, the orange placed nearly randomly in the middle of the stripe lifts the whole look. The remaining walls were painted in Resene Quarter Spanish White for a soothing backdrop.
