The bach owners are a large family and their brief was to create the best possible transformation of a basic bach painted white on the least possible of budgets.
This project was a budget bach renovation. The bach owners are a large family and their brief was to create the best possible transformation of a basic bach painted white on the least possible of budgets. Their main request was that it should reflect their love of colour, but colours that would be easy for them to relax in with their ever extending family of five children and three grandchildren, after a hectic working week in the city. The family wanted to arrive at their bach and immerse themselves and totally relax among the colours of the sea and sky. With that in mind Lea created subtle layers of blues and greens that merged easily between the living areas and bedrooms. While creating a vibrant energising environment, she was also aware of the necessity to also create a harmonious environment.
The inspiration behind choosing the Resene colours was mainly the view from the southern and northern decks of the property. A combination of the sea views to the open hills towards the southeast and the views out to the north native planting resulted in the choice of colours.
In the lounge Resene Reservoir and Resene Scandal are complemented with a ceiling in Resene Alabaster and doors/architraves in Resene Sea Fog with an accent of Resene Serenity on the surfboard used as wall art. The bedrooms each have their own hue, using Resene Meltwater, Resene Onahau and Resene Shadow Green. The kitchen sink wall is a feature in Resene Onepoto, while the light fresh green tone of Resene Kandinsky is used in the bathroom/laundry/toilet.
The clients love colour but also needed harmonious colours that they could relax in. The wall colours were chosen to be warm while also providing a dramatic contrast to the outdoors.
