Golden succulent pot

Transform an old concrete plant pot into a shimmering gold garden feature with a little bit of help from Resene.

You will need: Concrete plant pot , Good quality potting mix, Paintbrush, Paint stirrer, Resene Concrete Primer, Resene Enamacryl Metallic tinted to Resene Bullion, Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Porsche, Resene Multishield+ gloss (now Resene Concrete Clear), Small pebbles, Small succulent

To get the look: Mark painted the background fence with Resene Waterborne Woodsman tinted to Resene English Walnut.

How to paint a gold effect on a pot

Step one
Ensure the pot is clean and dry and then apply one coat of Resene Concrete Primer and allow two hours to dry.

Step two
Apply one coat of Resene Porsche to the pot and allow two hours to dry.

Step three
Carefully stir the Resene Enamacryl Metallic to ensure the metallic flakes are evenly distributed.

Step four
Apply one coat of Resene Bullion to the pot and allow two hours to dry.

Step five
Apply a second coat of Resene Bullion to the pot, again allowing two hours to dry.

Step six
Apply two coats of Resene Multishield+ (now Resene Concrete Clear) gloss to the pot, allowing two hours for each coat to dr.y

Step seven
Partly fill the pot with good quality potting mix.

Step eight
Plant the succulent into the potting mix and cover any bare soil with a few small pebbles.

Other ideas: Transform a terracotta pot in the same way using Resene Terracotta Sealer instead of Resene Concrete Primer.
