Radiator

It’s easy to freshen up a chipped and tired radiator with a little bit of help from Resene.

Weekend DIY with Mark Rayner - Project 77

Difficulty level:  Moderate

You will need

To get the look:  Mark painted the background wall with Resene SpaceCote flat tinted to Resene Saltpan.

Other ideas:  For a warm creamy effect, paint the Radiator with Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Rich Cream.

How to repaint a radiator

 
Step 1 Step one
Thoroughly clean the radiator and then carefully sand any chips in the old paint work.
Step 2 Step two
Lightly sand the entire radiator to ‘key’ the surface.
Step 3 Step three
Wipe off any sanding residue with a clean cloth.
Step 4 Step four
Carefully stir the Resene Vinyl Etch.
Step 5 Step five
Spot prime any areas of bare metal with Resene Vinyl Etch and allow to dry.
Step 6 Step six
Carefully stir the Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Half Pearl Lusta.
Step 7 Step seven
Apply one coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Half Pearl Lusta to the radiator and allow to dry.
Step 8 Step eight
Apply a second coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Half Pearl Lusta to the radiator and allow to dry.
