Painting three ways - projects from Woman's Day magazine
Emily Somerville-Ryan shows us how to splash some colour around our homes and gardens
What you’ll need: Resene testpot paints, Resene Quick Dry primer undercoat, jigsaw, paintbrushes, pencil, sandpaper , 1x pine 210 x 18 x 480mm, 1x pine (base wood) 40 x 18 x 120mm, 32mm screws, ice-block sticks, supergrip glue.
Instructions: Draw two large ice blocks (65mm x 120mm) and two thinner ones (40mm x 120mm) on pine and carefully cut out with a jigsaw. Thoroughly sand all the edges with fine sandpaper and paint with Resene Quick Dry primer undercoat.
Once dry, paint in your desired colours. We used Resene Candy Floss (red), Resene Conifer and Resene Tree Frog (greens), Resene Ballerina (pink), and Resene Half Turbo (yellow). Attach the ice blocks to base wood by vertically screwing two 32mm screws 20mm apart through the back of the base wood and halfway into the ice block, so i t doesn’t pierce the front. Shorten regular ice-block sticks to 80mm and attach with SuperGrip glue.
What you’ll need: Resene testpot paints, paintbrushes, old trays, sandpaper, Resene Quick Dry primer undercoat.
Instructions: Upcycle your tired trays and add colour to your home or workspace by using vibrant paint colours from the Resene colour range. Prepare your old trays with a quick sand and two coats of Resene Quick Dry primer undercoat.
Once dry, paint your trays with any bold colours and patterns that take your fancy. We used Resene Black White (white), Resene Spray and Resene Panorama (blues), Resene Concrete (grey), Resene Candy Floss, Resene Ballerina, Resene Tree Frog (green) and Resene Half Turbo (yellow).
What you’ll need: Resene testpot paints, paintbrushes, smooth stones, Resene Quick Dry primer undercoat.
Instructions: Take on a labour of love this Labour weekend by decorating flat stones with your kids using Resene paints, then hiding them for others to find. To prepare them, give them a thorough clean and paint with two coats of Resene Quick Dry primer undercoat.
Once dry, decorate your stones in bright colours and fun patterns so they stand out like treasure. We used Resene Tuft Bush (skin) Resene Groundbreaker (brown), Resene Sunrise (orange), Resene Pirate Gold (ginger), Resene Triple Dune (black) and Resene Half Turbo (yellow).
