1. Goodie gift jars

What you’ll need:

  • Resene testpots
  • Paintbrush
  • Masking tape
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Jars

How to make goodie gift jars for your Dad.

Instructions:

Tape two pieces of washi masking tape around your jars, 25mm apart and paint between them in your favourite Resene hue to create a stripe around the jar. I have used Resene Astronaut, Resene Chelsea Cucumber and Resene Pursuit for the stripes. Draw an assortment of shields onto paper and cut them out. On a cutting board tape enough washi masking tape to create a shape bigger than your shield. Trace around your shield onto the tape and cut it out with a craft knife. Carefully peel away the inside shield and set aside for later. Fix the remaining tape stencil onto your jar and paint with either Resene Chelsea Cucumber, Resene Astronaut, or Resene Zephyr. Draw a simple symbol onto the set-aside tape shield and cut out with a craft knife. Peel away and remove the inside shape and fix the remaining tape stencil into position inside the painted shield on your jar. Paint the stencil in another Resene colour. Leave to dry then carefully peel away the tape. Fill your jars with Dad’s favourite treats.

2. Beaded photo mobile

What you'll need:

  • Resene testpots
  • Wooden beads
  • Pegs
  • Skewers
  • Scissors
  • Paintbrush
  • String
  • Photos

How to make a photo board mobile

Instructions:

Paint 23 beads with two coats of paint. I’ve used Resene Astronaut, Resene Waikawa Grey, Resene Amulet, Resene Chelsea Cucumber and Resene Pursuit. Thread the beads onto two skewers. Knot a piece of string onto either end of the skewers to hang the mobile from. Cut four, 40cm pieces of string and knot them between the beads. Thread two beads to the bottom of each string and knot. Clip your fave family photos on with a wooden peg and present to Dad on Father’s Day.

3. Popsicle peg planes

What you'll need:

  • Resene testpots
  • Ice block sticks
  • Wooden pegs
  • Pencil
  • Glue gun
  • Paintbrush
  • Masking tape
  • Craft knife

How to make popsicle peg planes

Instructions:

Cut a small ice block stick to 6cm and a large ice block stick to 11cm, rounding the end. Paint both sticks and peg with two coats of Resene paint. I have used Resene Astronaut, Resene Waikawa Grey, Resene Zephyr, Resene Amulet, Resene Chelsea Cucumber, Resene Pursuit and Resene Alabaster. Paint stripes, triangles or spots onto the wings and tails. When completely dry, glue the wings and tail to the peg. You could even glue a magnet to the back and use your plane as a fridge notice clip.
