Painting three ways - projects from Woman's Day magazine

Add some colour to your Easter with these easy paint ideas.

Instructions:

Paint your eggs in two coats using a testpot brush and Resene testpots in Resene Duck Egg Blue, Resene Blue Bayoux, Resene Wedgewood and Resene True Blue. Using a testpot brush, paint sections of your mid-weight paper in two coats in one or more accent paint colours. Cut out each of your painted sections. Using a paper punch, punch out your shapes. If you prefer, you can cut out small shapes instead of using a paper punch.

Attach the back of each of your punched out paper shapes to your egg with a small bead of hot glue. Leave small, even gaps between where you attach each shape until each egg is fully covered. When the glue sets, you can gently use your fingers to adjust and curve your shapes to give them more dimension – which works especially well for flower or heart shapes.

Instructions:

Gently crack the tips of your painted eggs one at a time and empty their yolks and whites into your sealable container to use in a recipe later. Try to retain as much of the shell in one piece as possible. Gently rinse the inside of your shells. Place them aside on a paper towel.

Once dry, use a Resene testpot brush to paint your eggs in two coats using Resene testpots of Resene Norway, Resene Moody Blue and Resene Big Bang. Allow to dry. Put each of your eggs in their individual egg holders or use a ceramic ‘egg carton’ to create a centrepiece with all your eggs together. Carefully place a tealight inside each egg. If the egg opening is very narrow, gently chip away until the opening is big enough to fit the tealight inside. For safety reasons, do not light your tealights when your eggs are in a flammable carton – and never leave lit candles unattended.

Instructions:

Paint decorative jars to store your Easter goodies! Draw a bunny shape out of paper, using coins as templates. Lay down strips of the wide masking tape, overlapping them slightly. Then draw around the bunny shape on to the tape.

Cut out the tape bunny, and press it onto the side of the jar. Paint the jars with Resene testpots in Resene Surf Crest and Resene Sweet Corn, then remove the bunny-shaped tape. Fill with Easter eggs and tie a paper doily on top. You can paint your doily to match or contrast your jar colour if you wish. For a sparkling finish use Resene FX Metallic paint.
