Painting three ways - projects from Woman's Day magazine
Make mum’s Mother’s Day blooming marvellous with these cute ideas from Emily Somerville-Ryan.
What you’ll need:
Instructions:
Give mum flowers that last this Mother’s Day with these easy craft ideas that show her how much you love her. Cut 3 x 13cm wide strips from A4 paper. Paint both sides of the paper, two in one colour and the third in another. I’ve used Resene Spotlight with Resene Glamour Puss, Resene Biloba Flower with Resene Lima and Resene Quarter Joanna with Resene Spotlight. Once dry, fold each piece in half lengthwise and tape a strip of double-sided tape along the length of the open side. Cut strips right along the length of the paper, cutting from the folded edge to the edge of the tape. Don’t cut the tape. Gently unfold the paper and fold it inside-out, back onto itself. Peel off the top layer of the double-sided tape and tape the two edges together. Repeat with all three pieces. Tape another piece of double-sided tape along the outside length of the paper pieces and peel off the top edge. With the single contrasting coloured piece first, roll the sticky part of the paper around the end of a straw sticking it to itself as it rotates around until the whole piece is attached. Repeat with the other two identical pieces until all three pieces are attached on top of each other.
What you'll need:
Instructions:
Paint the canvas in two coats of Resene Alabaster. Cut the cups from an egg carton into the shape of a flower. Paint each flower with two coats of Resene Glamour Puss, Resene Spotlight, Resene Quarter Joanna, Resene Lima and Resene Biloba Flower. Glue a button into the centre of the flower. Glue pipe cleaners onto the centre of the canvas, then each flower and a bow at the join in the stalks with a glue gun.
What you'll need:
Instructions:
Paint both sides of 5 small paper plates with two coats of your favourite Resene colour. I’ve chosen Resene Glamour Puss, Resene Spotlight, Resene Quarter Joanna, Resene Lima and Resene Biloba Flower. While those are drying, paint 5 paper straws with two coats of Resene Dizzy Lizzy. When dry, put a drop of craft glue into one end of the straw and feed a yellow pipe cleaner into it. This will form your stalk and stamen. Roll the paper plates into a cone, leaving a small straw sized hole at the base. Glue into place with a glue gun. Squeeze a small amount of craft glue into the base hole of the cone, feed the stalk through the hole and set into place.
