Born in Germany Beate immigrated to New Zealand in 1999 with her family. She feels that transforming a living space into a comfortable and individual sanctuary makes all the difference of living somewhere or really feeling at home. After graduating Business Management and working for architects and companies like Esprit and Sony in Germany, Beate finally decided to turn her life-long passion for Art and Interiors into a career. The principles of Interior Design learned through Interior Design studies and her 10 years experience as an artist is a wonderful combination. Alongside Art and Interiors, Beate designs home textiles for companies in Europe and China. Beate also loves the challenge of creating commission works. Matching colours and textures of your interior and considering the furniture, the space and the dimensions of the room gives her inspiration for a personal and unique piece of art. Works run the gamut of abstract, based on spontaneity, emotions and a feeling for colour, Beate's abstract paintings leave to the viewer to discover their individual meaning; themes, a selection of paintings expressing the beauty of things in an interplay of realistic and abstract elements with texture and colour; and mood zones, paintings inspired by figurative individuality and symbolic power - a sanctuary for the soul, full of empathy and sensitivity.
Beate uses a variety of Resene colours in her work and finds them particularly useful for commission work because it is very easy to perfectly match the existing colours of the room to the artwork. The Resene palette of colours enables her to plan the details of the painting with the help of colour charts and samples, and various gloss levels can be employed within a single work to create visual interest. Metallics, testpots and the ability to mix Resene paints with textured mediums all assist Beate to complete her artwork, intermixing and layering colours and effects to achieve unique works to treasure.
