tackled two rooms in her home. The dining room was completed in
under a fortnight with home help; the downstairs study is still
a work in progress with one large cupboard requiring cleaning
out, stripping and repainting.
In a departure from the common mix of light ceiling finishes,
Resene Midnight Express was painted on to the ceiling complemented
by Resene Putty walls and Resene Enamacryl Metallic Sputnik ceiling
trim.
Combined with the large window wall and stunning views out to
Manukau Harbour, the combination of view and deep blue ceiling
brings a little of the marine indoors. The dark ceiling has the
added benefit of perceptually lowering the 11 foot stud ceiling
while drawing attention to the heritage lights.

Having mastered the painting of a ceiling on an 11 foot stud
room, tackling the study would have been a breeze if it weren't
for the extensive collection of books that had accumulated over
the years creating somewhat of a painter's obstacle course. The
downstairs study, now decorated in Resene Link Water walls and
white woodwork, had been untouched by a paintbrush since the 1930's.
The long delay between painting necessitated extensive stripping
of the wooden shelves and fire surround before the final paint
system including ceiling edging of shellac trim and thin metallic
line could be applied. With one large study cupboard still to
go, Claire can soon hang up her paintbrush
