| Anything but cream
Sheryl had never painted anything bigger than a set of drawers and her husband was horrified at the thought of painting - he felt the cream was tasteful, restful, soothing. But armed with a copy of Dave Cull's You Can Paint It book and lots of advice from Resene Hamilton, Sheryl started painting a room that wasn't as 'focal' as a main room - a bedroom. A few hours later - hot and covered in paint, she had created a Resene Axolotl bedroom with pride. Having mastered the bedroom, Sheryl was on a roll. The lounge is now Resene Amethyst Smoke, the family room and office are Resene Equator, the entrance has a feature wall in Resene Planter and the bedroom is finished in Resene Chetwode Blue with a Resene Christi trim, making it a firm favourite with the grandchildren. And the great thing is that the previously bland cream seems to link it all together.
The house is definitely not finished - it is a work in progress for Sheryl. Sheryl thought she was brave painting the first room Resene Axolotl - now it is about to become Viking with a Resene Lipstick trim. And as for the guest bathroom Sheryl is considering Resene Wasabi or maybe Resene Sushi. Not to be outdone there are testpots already lined up for the exterior - will it be Resene Linen or Resene Parchment? And the best thing? Sheryl's friends are asking her to design Resene colour schemes for their houses, so not only has she gained some new skills and stunning new décor but she may just have found herself a new career too.
Thanks to Sheryl Glover of Morrinsville.
