Describing their biggest challenge as working within a very slim
budget, Lisa and her husband recently completed kitchen/dining
room renovations, with Lisa in charge of colour selections and
her husband, a seasoned DIY'er, undertaking the painting.
An amalgamation of new and old, the windows were retained while
the ceiling and wall plasterboard was replaced, the wall between
the lounge and dining room/kitchen removed, and the kitchen was
completely gutted and reshaped - the oven being the only original
fixture retained in the new room.
The dining room makeover needed a new paint scheme with the original
1970's fruit bowl and copper kettle wallpaper still present along
with slim green Holland blinds and orange plastic light fittings.
Resene Dutch White was selected for the walls, joined by Resene
Bianca for the window trim and Resene Cha Cha for the feature
wall running the length of the dining/kitchen area. Lisa found
the most satisfying aspect of the project was seeing the effect
colour can have within an area and yet it was the least expensive
part of the whole makeover.
