Recently the Kaye family renovated their two bedroom bungalow
by adding a second storey to accommodate our growing family. The
decision to do the renovation was a big one but they are so pleased
they did. Even on a tight budget and with work still in progress
they think the result is awesome.
In the second storey they added three bedrooms, allowing their
two children to have their own rooms - a great relief on their
part. The children were involved in the colour selection. 9 year
old Bradley wanted a blue room. They already had his surfboard
duvet cover so opted for colours to match that. In the dormer
and on a feature wall they used Resene Escapade and to contrast
with this the remainder of the room has been painted with Resene
Tasman.
6 year old daughter Maddison had chosen a pink fairy duvet but
wanted a green room. Resene Soft Apple was perfect for the walls
along with Resene Soapstone for the ceiling. They also used Resene
Soapstone for the doors and frames throughout the second storey.
In Maddison's room there wasn't room for a built in wardrobe,
so a well worn freestanding wardrobe was painted Resene Classic
Rose to match the pink in her duvet.
The colours used on the exterior work well with the everchanging
colour of the sea. The weatherboards are painted in Resene Half
Tapa with the trims in Resene Quarter Tea and Resene Half Tea.
To add some colour, they painted their Cape Cod chairs in Resene
Zibibbo.
