Lesleigh’s apartment, built in the early 1960s, is Modernist in style with around 300 degrees of light entering through generous strip windows giving an interior airy quality. The living areas were renovated in 1997, 2002 and 2006 and more recently the bathroom was totally modernised.

Modestly sized, it comprises two bedrooms, bathroom, hall/gallery and open living room and kitchen. In order to create spaciousness and emphasise the quality of light, Lesleigh used two Resene colours, Resene Sauvignon and Resene Coriander, throughout the flat, except for the second bedroom, which doubles as an office and TV room, where Resene Moon Glow on the walls is joined by Resene Waikawa Grey on the shelves and desk. The window and door joinery are white.

The feature west walls of the living space and the main bedroom are finished in Resene Coriander. The other bedroom walls, which are broken up with wardrobes, windows, etc, are painted Resene Half Coriander. The remainder of the space is Resene Sauvignon, which acts as a perfect backdrop for her art collection, including the black/white works on paper featured on the east wall and watercolours, drawings and photographs in the hallway. The existing curtains, carpet and living room lampshade are all tones of rose pink, which also influenced the selection of Resene Sauvignon for the walls.

Resene Sauvignon is also carried into the bathroom and complements the tiled wall, a repeat of a feature wall in the kitchen, and the polished Matai floors.
