Design the perfect kitchen

When you're planning a home, you'll be well aware of how important it is to get the kitchen just right. The room is usually the hub of the house and is where families spend a lot of their time, so it has to be both stylish and practical.

Interior design can be made easier if you start with a central theme, colour or design and build around that. Many people will want this room to fit in with the decor in the rest of the house, but if you're starting from scratch you may get to let your imagination run wild!

Appliances and storage

Depending on your cooking abilities, you'll want to equip the kitchen with the best appliances and gadgets within your budget. Culinary enthusiasts may want extra-large or even two ovens, a particular stove top (many swear by gas) and a top-of-the-line refrigerator.

You should also consider storage options. Walk-in pantries are increasingly popular among those who like to entertain, and you may want a built-in wine rack.

Keep the room streamlined by tucking away fridges and dishwashers behind cupboards and drawers of the same colour, or go for stainless steel options to add a contrast to the room.

Get advice

Kitchens are a key part of your home, so it's best to seek advice from a kitchen professional so you can make sure you make the most of your space.  They will also be up to date with new kitchen technology and design ideas that you may not have thought of, which can make your kitchen work that much better.
