Colour: Resene Harlequin

"A Harlequin is very witty and jester-like. They are loud and adventurous.

I was mainly inspired by a story my nana told me about when she went to fancy dress in school and dressed as a Harlequin. She was a model, very fashionable and original, always in the NZ Herald. I based my design on my nana and a Harlequin. I shaped the hem of the skirt like a Harlequin's hat and made it asymmetric to add a twist. I pleated the skirt for fullness to show a class look like my nana. My main focal point is the neckline; my nana raved about the collar she wore, so I tried to replicate it from her description. I decided my design would be suited for a pre-Oscar party worn by a daring, bright personality."
