Resene Brushing Additive Resene Brushing Additive is specially formulated for addition to Resene waterborne enamel paints to reduce brush marking and produce a smoother finish on trim and joinery. Warm, dry conditions and hot surfaces result in too rapid drying of waterborne paints. This may lead to excessive foaming on application and generally poor application properties such as short wet edge times and impaired levelling. Resene Brushing Additive additions of 2%-5% will generally improve most application problems caused by too rapid drying. In more severe cases more Resene Brushing Additive is beneficial. Do not use more than 5% (200ml per 4 litres). Do not use with Resene Hot Weather Additive. Typical uses: In Resene Lustacryl and Resene Enamacryl when brush applied onto trim and joinery. |
Resene FX Crackle Creating unique broken, antique looking finishes is quick and easy with Resene FX Crackle. Distinctive crackle finishes can be created using a tinted acrylic basecoat (such as Resene Lumbersider), one coat of Resene FX Crackle and a final coat of an acrylic topcoat tinted to a contrasting colour to the basecoat. Resene FX Crackle will shrink causing the acrylic topcoat to crack revealing the basecoat colour. The Crackle effect will vary depending on the application method, enabling many different effects to be achieved with the same product, just by varying application technique and the basecoat and topcoat colour combinations. A thick coat of Resene FX Crackle will result in fewer larger, deeper cracks, while a thin coat will give smaller, shallower cracks. Crackle effect finishes are best used on uneven or rough walls, furniture, picture frames, woodwork and small feature areas. As with other effects products, agree a sample panel before the job starts and use this as the standard for the project. If you wish to overcoat a Resene FX Crackle finish with an acrylic paint you will need to apply Resene Sureseal to seal off the crackle layer before topcoating. Depending upon the depth of the crackle finish you may still see a pattern through the repainted area. Typical uses: Small areas where a crackle effect finish is required. Not recommended for large areas as it is difficult to get an even finish on a larger area. |
Resene FX Magnetic Magic Resene FX Magnetic Magic is a premium waterborne paint formulated with iron oxides for maximum magnetic effect. Overcoat with your choice of Resene topcoats in over 3000 Resene colours. Magnets can be hung directly onto the finished area once dry and cured. To hang a poster, picture or photo from your magnetic area, use self-adhesive magnetic strips applied to the back of the item. The weight of the item will determine the number and placement of the magnets. For maximum magnetic strength use high quality magnets. Typical uses: Smooth, non-textured interior areas where it is desired to affix magnets. |
Resene Hot Weather Additive Resene Hot Weather Additive is specially formulated to retard the dry of Resene waterborne paints. Warm, dry conditions and hot surfaces result in too rapid drying of waterborne paints. This may lead to excessive foaming on application and generally poor application properties such as short wet edge times and impaired levelling. Resene Hot Weather Additive additions of 2%-5% will generally improve most application problems caused by too rapid drying. In more severe cases more Resene Hot Weather Additive is beneficial. Do not use more than 10% (400ml per 4 litres). Do not use with Resene Brushing Additive. Typical uses: In Resene waterborne paints to slow drying. |
Resene Master Painters Stainers (also known as Resene MPS Stainers) Resene Master Painters Stainers are multi-purpose no added VOC colourants that have been tested for use in all Resene decorative undercoats and topcoats. Resene Summit Roof Commercial Brushing Additive Resene Summit Roof Commercial Brushing Additive must be used with Resene Summit Roof Commercial Spray Satin on small areas when applied by brush before the roof is sprayed. Add 30ml of Resene Summit Roof Commercial Brushing Additive per litre of Resene Summit Roof Commercial Spray Satin. The additive adds ‘bulk’ to Resene Summit Roof Commercial. Resene Summit Roof Commercial has been developed without compromise for airless spraying. This has meant how well it brushes or rolls has been compromised. The additive effectively adds the ‘brushing ingredients’ back to the paint. If you need to brush small areas, decant the amount of paint needed into a separate can and add the Resene Summit Roof Commercial Brushing Additive and use. |
Resene Summit Roof Spray Additive Resene Summit Roof Spray Additive is specially formulated to extend open time, improve flow and levelling, and to achieve an integrated paint film when Resene Summit Roof paint is airless spray applied to an existing dark roof paint colour or when the surface is too hot to touch. |
Resene TagCover Resene TagCover is a custom made range of waterborne satin paints formulated to provide a budget friendly paint system to cover graffiti. Available in a standard colour range in 10L pails. Other sizes and colours available on request. Minimum quantities may apply. Typical uses: Concrete, plaster, timber. |
Resene Umbrella Additive Resene Umbrella Additive is an additive for exterior waterborne coatings providing rapid protection from showers and light rain even before the coating has dried. Once applied, a coating containing Resene Umbrella Additive quickly starts to build a protective shell that then extends throughout the whole coating. Water is able to evaporate from the coating allowing it to dry but showers and light rain simply roll off leaving the still-drying coating firmly attached to the substrate. The Umbrella Effect will work in light showers only. Exterior painting should not be undertaken when medium or heavy rain is expected during the paint’s drying phase. |
Resene Wintergrade Additive Resene Wintergrade Additive is an additive for exterior waterborne coatings providing extra protection against paint application in colder temperatures, so you can apply treated paint in temperatures down to 3?C. Cold conditions can cause standard waterborne paint films to crack or powder and lead to premature paint failure. When using paint over winter, keep an eye on the temperature, both on the surface and in the air. Remember a surface can be a lot colder than the air that surrounds it so you may find it’s best to change your order of work and work on surfaces like plasterboard in the early morning and move to areas like concrete, which tend to be cooler in cold weather until they have had a chance to warm up a little. |

Crown Landscape – Black, Cedar, Kauri Crown Landscape is a waterborne stain designed to enhance, protect and rejuvenate exterior timber in landscaping, such as fences, retaining walls and decorative landscaping features. Available in three colours – Black, Cedar and Kauri. |
Crown Crown products with Eco Choice approval are: Crown Ceiling Paint, Crown Fence Paint, Crown High Gloss, Crown Landscape and Crown Timber Colour. Crown is a range of good quality topcoats and primers/sealers designed for budget conscious homeowners and trade customers. Resene premium paints will provide the best long term value, however the Crown range can be ideal where there is a limited budget available. |
Crown roof paints are designed to give a quick drying, durable, high-gloss finish on new primed or previously painted roofs. Good surface preparation is critical to maximise the life of your roof paint system. Clean down all surfaces using Resene Roof and Metal Wash, a concentrated pre-treatment for all new and old unpainted galvanised roofing and a general cleaner for previously painted surfaces including roofing. Wash down with a copious amount of freshwater.
Use Resene Membrane Roofing Primer for all sheet rubber roofing systems and bituminous surfaces.
Handy tip: A good rule-of-thumb for calculating the quantity of roof paint required is: your project's footprint area plus about 40% (allows for roof pitch, corrugations, soffit overhang, etc). Trough section roofing can require significantly more. Typically a complete roof paint system requires surface preparation using Resene Roof Wash and Paint Cleaner, one coat of primer and two coats of topcoat at the recommended coverage rate on the cans.

Resene designs and manufactures a range of products tailormade to the specific requirements of clients. From custom made colours, custom made batches to complete new formulation development and testing, the Resene R&D team can create paint, stain, clear and coating solutions to meet your requirements.
Resene was approached by Independent Timber Importers (ITI), a leading Australia timber importer, to provide a high quality timber primer for factory application to finger jointed treated pine timber sold under Design Pine branding. The paint industry has long had the ability to produce excellent field applied primers for use over timber, however the history of factory applied primers is plagued with substandard quality and results. Keen to break away from the mediocrity, ITI contracted Resene to develop a primer to add value and quality to the finished product.
LOSP treatment of timber is a highly efficient and successful means of treating and protecting cut timber. However, the removal of excess solvents from the process can leave residues of resin acids and waxes on the surface, which may transfer through normal, high quality, solventborne primers causing overcoating problems with waterborne topcoats.
Resene have developed a novel method to resolve this problem, incorporated into a high quality primer, marketed under Resene True-Prime and Design Pine Primer brand names. Three years in the development, True-Prime primer has been extensively tested for compatibility with all major Australasian topcoats.
It is also now available in the New Zealand market through selected leading timber mills and hardware timber merchants in the distinct pale blue colour, meaning that both sides of the Tasman can also benefit from Resene cut timber primer protection technology.
In one year alone, over 1.3 million square metres of surface area were coated in the Resene primer, equating to over 18,000 cubic metres of wood and a staggering 5 million lineal metres. Whichever way you chop the numbers, it's a lot of wood and primer.
Wood-X wood oil, designed by Resene for HermanPacific, penetrates deeply into previously uncoated exterior timber products such as Western Red Cedar weatherboards, fascia, boards, beams and mouldings. HermanPacific applies Wood-X direct to Cedar for new residential projects. As with any other wood stain or oil finish, Wood-X needs regular recoating to keep the finish looking good. To make it easy for homeowners to purchase Wood-X for their ongoing maintenance requirements it can be ordered through Resene ColorShops (NZ only). View the Wood-X colour range online.
In a world first, Resene have pioneered a way that you can ensure the coating applied is authentic, with Resene PaintTrack. Resene PaintTrack is a 'chemical barcode' made up of durable and inert inorganic materials that are fully integrated into the paint. To the naked eye, paints containing Resene PaintTrack look and perform the same as normal. When illuminated using light of a specific wavelength, a unique emission spectrum is detected by a hand-held digital reader if it contains Resene PaintTrack… more
Some products or services may not be offered in your area or country. Please check with your local Resene ColorShop for availability. Most products can be ordered on request though lead times and minimum order quantities may apply.
In response to growing concerns over VOC emissions, the Eco Choice programme focuses on the need to reduce these emissions. Solventborne paints release significantly more VOCs per litre than waterborne paints, spurring Resene chemists to develop waterborne replacements for solventborne products. Today, less than 8% of the decorative paint sold by Resene is solventborne, while the average per litre VOC levels of Resene decorative paint sales have dropped by over 90% in the last two decades, clearly demonstrating Resene's commitment to proactively develop and launch environmentally preferable waterborne technologies to the market. Resene offers an extensive range of low VOC and no added VOC paints, coatings, stains/primers and sealers, including no added VOC tinters.
