“For this garment I was inspired by my Resene colour: Submerge.  Lolita fashion, anime, otaku culture, neo-gothic fashion and ultra-feminine trend.  The depth of my colour inspired me to come up with a dark/moody yet ultra-feminine look that conveys bearing a strong personality, one of independence, strength, creativity, rebellion and freedom, hence why I’ve made the garment tip heavy and the skirt more feminine by using crystal pleats.

I really wanted to show that dark colours could be just as feminine as light colours and to submerge one’s self to look outside the box and find deeper meanings and perspectives.”
