“The term ‘pursuit’ to myself triggered the aspects of myself that I can feel that are already enlightened within me. The song ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ was the first thought that I had when I saw the word.

As this relates to my current phase in life, I am trying to pursue happiness which involves fulfilling every aspect of my hauora. I had this realisation through the lockdown that occurred. Through being in quarantine I had been exposed for the first time about how fragile our society can be and with all the people that had lost jobs and how that affects everyone else along with ourself.

Although it is a tough time for humans, we must continue dreaming and keep pursuing for the future ahead of us. Life will try to stop us but we must keep going, our dreams must be bigger than reality.

A quote by Carl Jung CW11 Para 391 “It’s not I who creates myself, rather I happen to myself” relates to my overall emotions felt from the pandemic and the word ‘pursuit’, as although the situations we live in can affect who we become, the key message being that us as society and beings of the universe contain the ability to choose what we become.

The vents within the clothing were taken from the vents found in a vehicle, which I chose as an item to represent the word pursuit. It creates airflow for stability and to cool a vehicle down. I feel as though those are aspects we needed to claim through the times we were in the peak of lockdown.”
