Window display

It’s easy to transform an old wooden window frame into a nifty display for potted plants by following our simple step-by-step guide.

You will need

To get the look:  Mark painted the background shed wall with Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Soft Apple.

How to build a potted plant window display

 
Step 1 Step one
Sand the window frame and then wipe off any sanding residue with a clean cloth.
Step 2 Step two
Cut a piece of plywood to the same size as the window frame and smooth any rough edges with sandpaper.
Step 3 Step three
Spot prime any areas of bare wood on the window frame with Resene Quick Dry and allow to dry.
Step 4 Step four
Apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry to the piece of plywood and allow to dry.
Step 5 Step five
Apply one coat of Resene Aquapel & Terracotta Sealer to the inside and outside of each terracotta pot and allow to dry.
Step 6 Step six
Apply two coats of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Alabaster to the window frame, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 7 Step seven
Apply two coats of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Parsley to one side of the piece of plywood, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 8 Step eight
Apply two coats of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Poppy to the terracotta pots, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 9 Step nine
Fix the piece of plywood to the back of the window frame, as shown, using 45mm exterior screws.
Step 10 Step ten
Apply two coats of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Alabaster to the back and edges of the piece of plywood, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 11 Step eleven
Fix the window display to a wall or fence using 45mm exterior screws.
Step 12 Step twelve
Fix the four plastic pot hangers into position using 45mm exterior screws.
