This colourful twist on the classic noughts and crosses game is great fun to make and then play – whatever the weather.

1 concrete paver (ours measured approximately 300mm x 300mm
Flat stones (x10)

How to play: Two players take it in turns to place a ‘nought’ or a ‘cross’ on the grid, with the first to get three in a row (vertically, horizontally or diagonally) the winner.
Top tip: When priming and painting the flat stones, it’s best to let one side dry first before turning.
How to build an outdoor noughts & crosses game:
Step one
Apply one coat of Resene Concrete Primer to the top and sides of the concrete paver and allow to dry.
Step two
Apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry to each of the flat stones and allow to dry.
Step three
Apply two coats of Resene Cabaret to the top and sides of the concrete paver, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step four
Apply two coats of Resene Curious Blue to five of the flat stones, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step five
Apply two coats of Resene Turbo to the other five flat stones, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step six
Paint a grid on the concrete paver, as shown, using Resene Japanese Laurel and allow to dry.
Step seven
Paint ‘noughts’ on the blue stones using Resene Havoc and allow to dry.
Step eight
Paint ‘crosses’ on the yellow stones using Resene Kitsch and allow to dry.
