Create this fabulous spinning wheel from an old record and a few Resene testpots.

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: 40mm panel pin, Hammer, Old record, Paintbrushes (including an artists’ brush), Pencil, Piece of MDF, Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer, Resene Quick Dry, Resene testpots in the following colours: Resene Hi Jinx, Resene Snap and Resene Topsy Turvy

Top tip: To make the record spin even faster, stand the piece of MDF upright against a wall.

Here's another idea: This spinning wheel was painted with a combination of Resene Get Reddy, Resene Grass Stain and Resene Kermit.

Step one
Hammer the panel pin halfway into the centre of the piece of MDF (you might need a grown up to help with this bit). Apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry to the MDF and allow two hours to dry.

Step two
Apply one coat of Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer to one side of the record and allow to dry.

Step three
Paint the piece of MDF with two coats of Resene Topsy Turvy, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.

Step four
Paint the record with two coats of Resene Snap, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.

Step five
Starting at the centre of the record, lightly draw a radiating spiral using a pencil, as shown.

Step six
Using the pencil line as a guide, paint a radiating spiral, as shown, using two coats of Resene Hi Jinx and allow two hours for each coat to dry. Place the record on the protruding nail, and get spinning!
