Resene has 'Paint the drain' kits available to schools and community groups to help you 'Paint the drains' and remind people to keep the drains only for rain. Register now for your kit, one kit available per school. Total kit numbers may be limited. When your registration for Resene 'Paint for drains' is approved you will receive:

A set of variously coloured bright paints from Resene to create your 'Paint the drain' masterpieces. The resulting artworks can be as varied as they are colourful, provided each is underpinned by a very positive and educational message to remind those passing by drains are for rain.

What paint is recommended to 'paint the drain' messages? And how do I prepare and paint?

Clean the area to be painted and allow it to dry thoroughly.
Cover the drain while the painting is being done so no paint can accidentally go down the drain during the application or drying process.
You can choose to use a prep coat though many schools have successfully painted Resene Lumbersider direct onto the surface.
We normally recommend Resene solid colour testpots (or small pots of Resene Lumbersider). These are ideal as they are exterior grade paint and available in a huge range of colours. They are suitable for use by children and adults.
If the drain is in a high foot traffic area then consider using Resene Non-Skid Deck & Path, which is a slip resistant finish.
Wrap brushes in reusable plastic between coats or overnight to keep paint fresh and minimise clean up and waste. All paints supplied are Environmental Choice approved Resene paints with low odour and easy wash up in water.
