Te Kao, now and then.
Background to mural creation:
These murals have been revived. They were originally made about 1990 at Te Kao school by students. They recently had to be taken down for a new building extension so they decided to give them a new lease of life. They have been stripped back, sanded, redrawn and some modern updates the school and community have seen over the last 30 years including solar panels and some building colour changes. They have been worked on by the year 4, 5 and 6 students and have received an amazing response from our community due to the fact most of the original artists are whanau members and have so pleased to see them renovated.
