Mural Masterpieces - Wakari School

Mural theme:
Inspired by the Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

Background to mural creation:
Upon investigation they discovered that there were only two pieces of art in the playground and Room 15 decided that was not enough and that they wanted to create a mural that would impress the students, teachers and parents. After completing an artist study on Friedensreich Hundertwsser, they decided his style of work and philosophy would be the perfect theme for the mural. As well as being based on his artwork it was important to the students that the design be creative and use bright colours. All students in Room 15 designed their own original paintings based on this theme, then the school community voted on their favourite design. It was tough picking one design but Paige Van Gorp’s (aged 8) bright colours and bold design was a clear favourite. Room 15 worked co-operatively to paint the mural and bring Paige’s design to life.
