Background to mural creation:
The mural is based on the landmarks surrounding Tatuanui School with the school as the primary feature in the composition.  While participating in the enviroschools programme, the purpose of the mural is to build a sense of belonging to each other, the school, and the wider community.

The mural provided an opportunity for children who have talent in visual art to explore and develop their skills with new media - house paint on an exterior concrete wall.
