Background to mural creation:
A whole school project led by the student enviro council to enhance our school environment and send positive messages to our students and the community.

The student Enviro Council represents all students at our school. Each senior and middle class selects two representatives and they share the ideas from their class and a junior buddy class. Meetings of each meeting are kept and shared with classes. Classes are asked to prioritise the environmental actions so one action can be worked on at a time. The student enviro councilors decided to run a mural poster competition open for all students. Over 70 entries were received, all with an environmental and Hukanui School theme to them. The council and teachers found it too hard to judge the best so it was decided to incorporate elements from as many entries as possible into the design.
