Background to mural creation:
The ideas for the mural grew from the children's own creativity and tied in with the themes they had been studying at school.  A dull toolshed that used to be an incinerator shed was an eyesore and needed beautifying. 

Verran School are an Enviroschool and have been doing a lot of planting of native bush around the school.  Beautiful developing native bush backed onto the shed, so the students decided to have a wraparound mural that went right around the shed.  As this got painted the common theme of the river developed.  The river is an integral part of each native scene and it flows off the shed down along the gutter to the stormwater drain.  It continues out to the sea, which is a scene on the nearby PE shed, another boring shed that needed beautifying.
