Mural theme:
Importance of the natural environment at Pyes Pa School and the diversity of children within the school.

Background to mural creation:
A group of eight senior GATE students were given the opportunity to personalise Pyes Pa School by creating a large group mural. After deciding upon a suitable location, the group of children, a local artist and the group co-ordinator began planning. It was decided to include things important to Pyes Pa School and to the children in the mural. The group used the Pyes Pa School native bush area and natural environment as motivation for the background of the mural. The foreground was created using the silhouette of the children themselves. Each child was given space to create images of things significant to themselves. During the mural creation the children focused on expanding their skills in creating shape, texture and depth.
