Background to mural creation:
This mural was created to communicate pride in the school as they are motoring and moving on up. It was designed and painted by thirty year 7 and 8 students working collaboratively with local New Zealand artist Shane Hansen. The students learned about Shane’s style and techniques. The mural reflects the school community as it is motoring and moving on up as well as the wider Manurewa community, through the four key Maori principles of Angus Macfarlane’s Educultural wheel: Kotahitanga (ethic of bonding), Whanaugatanga (building relationships), Maanakitanga (ethic of caring) and Rangitiratira (teacher effectiveness).
