Background to mural creation:
Participating in the mural really motivated the children and increased their appreciation of why art is included in their schoolwork. The children are very proud of their mural which graces the entranceway to the school office.

Featuring Jolly Phonics stories and characters, the mural was created for the Junior School of 5-7 year olds, who learn to read using the characters in the mural, combined with stories, hand actions and a particular sound. Each sound is associated with a particular character in the mural, with the overall aim to help these young students enjoy reading.
