First impressions count as much in design as in everyday life. One of the simplest ways to make a statement within your home is with the walls.
Recently there has been a move towards an optimistic palette of warm, clear neutrals, says Resene marketing manager Karen Warman.
“Light and dark neutrals, such as Resene Bison Hide and Resene Tapa, anchor colour schemes. Monochromacity emphasises tactility, texture, sheen and natural materials, such as wood or stone. Neutrals continue to be earth influenced and take a role of softening and simplifying the palette.”
To help you work out the best colour selection for your own home, Resene releases a new The Range fashion fandeck each year. The latest fandeck presents more than 150 colours, and illustrates shades which work well together.
The Resene EzyPaint virtual painting software is another easy way to choose paint colours. Free to download from the Resene website, and available on CD, the software allows you to preview and change schemes on your computer.
Resene Bison Hide was used throughout the show home, including the master bedroom, which also has a Resene Oilskin accent wall.
Living areas have been warmed up with a contrasting colour – Resene Tapa.
