1. Shirt bags and gift cards

What you’ll need:

  • Resene testpots
  • Card
  • Paintbrush
  • Pencil
  • Craft knife
  • Stencil
  • Glue gun
  • Washi tape
  • Pasta

Shirt bags and gift cards

Instructions:

Bags:  Mask vertical stripes onto a piece of A2 card with masking tape. Paint Resene Smitten into the gaps. Once dry, peel off the tape and tape horizontal stripes. Paint Resene Ballerina into the new gaps. Tape another row of vertical stripes over the white parts. Paint Resene Hopbush into the gaps. When dry, peel off all the tape. Paint a piece of A2 card with two coats of Resene Seagull. Tape vertical stripes across the card, with a 3mm gap between each piece. Paint the gaps alternately with Resene Coast and Resene Quarter Iron and peel off the tape. Print out the gift bag stencil from our website and cut the bag shape out on each piece. Tape together with double-sided tape. The ties are painted in Resene Rapture and Resene Groovy. Stick the ties to the front with doublesided tape.

Gift cards:  Cut a piece of A4 card in half and paint with two coats of either Resene Rapture, Resene Sweet Corn or Resene Feijoa. Fold in half again to create a gift card. Mask stripes and checks with tape and paint. I have used Resene Energy Yellow, Resene Groovy and Resene Ballerina for these. Cut a 2cm slit, in from each top side corner of the card, 2.5cm down from the top. Fold each top corner into the middle to create the collar. Paint pasta bows with two coats of Resene paint. I’ve used Resene Rapture, Resene Ballerina and Resene Seagull. When dry, stick the painted pasta bow over the collar and two or three buttons down the front with a glue gun.

Gently sand two wooden handled hammers with fine sandpaper and wipe off the sanding dust. Paint the bottom and top half of the hammers in two coats of two contrasting colours and leave to dry. I have used Resene Rapture, Resene Energy Yellow, Resene Groovy and Resene Seagull. With a fine brush, paint an assortment of spots and stripes onto the base colours with two coats of a lighter colour. I’ve used Resene Ballerina, Resene Feijoa and Resene French Pass. Finally, paint a middle band joining the top and bottom sections in either Resene Smitten or Resene Coast.
