A way with colour

This room’s colours are inspired by the duvet cover. The ceiling is painted in Resene Quarter Pearl Lusta and the walls are painted with Resene Parachute.  Jane made the headboards herself and painted them in Resene Quarter Pearl Lusta to match.

The bedside tables were retrieved from a relative’s garage and refreshed with black and white stripes using Resene Nero and Resene Quarter Pearl Lusta.

The main wall in the Resene Parachute seemed quite intense once painted so to break this up they added different sized blank canvases covered with bright fabrics.   The "It's all about me" words seemed very appropriate for a teenager’s bedroom and were also painted in Resene Quarter Pearl Lusta. 

The set of Rimu drawers were made by Jane’s great grandfather as a wedding present for her grandmother.  They are a great set of drawers and tie in nicely with the Rimu skirtings, doors and window.  The noticeboard above the drawers Jane made and covered in spotty fabric.  

The rice paper light shade had a tear in it, so using wallpaper paste she glued white tissue wrapping paper all over it giving it great texture and then finished it off by cutting out and gluing black circle of tissue paper.

Not surprisingly, her daughter loves her room!

Jane’s creativity also extends to other rooms, such as these crosses each painted in different Resene colours.
