Black meets whiteBeing 1950s era the walls in the existing house were lined with fibrous plaster, which was very heavy to cut down and remove. The décor in this bedroom was a very dirty cream with brown curtains. It has now been fully insulated, rewired and relined on the walls and ceilings with plasterboard. The rest of the house that has been renovated to date is in Resene Quarter Truffle with Resene Half Sea Fog on trim and joinery and Resene Quarter Sea Fog on the ceilings. However her daughter wanted black and white, so a compromise was needed. They decided on a black and white wall at the head of the bed that couldn’t be seen from the doorway – that way the rooms would look consistent, while she could enjoy her preferred black and white. They painted the three walls in Resene Quarter Truffle to match the rest of the house. They then measured evenly and taped up the feature wall ready for the stripes. They used Resene Quarter Sea Fog for the white stripes and Resene Black. This is complemented with new black and white spotty bedding, existing white furniture, the gold bed and accessories to go with the striped wall. A clever way to achieve a look that suits everyone in the family.
