Café Kentro concept

The goal was to create a warm, inviting and nurturing space and took inspiration from the concept of ‘CORE’ as this café had been positioned in the heart of the community for over 30 years. This concept led all elements of the design, from the use of organic, flowing shapes to the soft, natural colour scheme and enabled the creation of a beautiful relaxed and nurturing space.

The gentle, warm palette with peach-terracotta tones creates a sense of calm and rejuvenation for the cafe. This palette was established from the street-front with a soft, peach façade and awning featuring Resene Soulful. The interior took on a warm neutral beige tone with Resene Eighth Biscotti on the main walls. This soft neutral scheme was accented with tinted terracotta tones of Resene Just Dance and blue-green hue of Resene Half Smalt Blue to warm the space and provide a calm and nurturing vibe. The ceiling is Resene White.

Light, natural ash wood furniture, soft brass finishes and terrazzo counter tops and flooring provide delicate layers of interest to complement this natural, organic colour scheme.

Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen was specified for all interior walls with Resene Lustacryl semi-gloss waterborne enamel on trims. The low sheen look was continued outside with Resene Lumbersider CoolColour on the exterior facade.
