Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 27

Difficulty level: Easy

You will need: 2 plastic craft eyes , Paintbrushes , Primed artist’s canvas , Printout of the ‘Kermit’ stencil from the Resene stencil library, PVA glue , Resene Art Action art & poster paint in the following colours: Resene Light Green, Resene Warm Blue and Resene Warm Yellow , Scissors

Top tip: If you don’t have an artist’s canvas then use a piece of heavy cardboard instead.

Here's another idea: Create a cool space scene using the Resene Rocket stencil, some stick-on stars, testpots of Resene Space Cadet and Resene Nero, and Resene Art Action Scotty Silver.

Step one
Paint the artist’s canvas with one coat of Resene Art Action Warm Yellow. Allow to dry.

Step two
Carefully cut out the stencil using scissors (you might need a grownup to help with this bit).

Step three
Place the stencil on the painted canvas, as shown, and use a dry brush to gently ‘stipple’ Resene Art Action Light Green over the stencil. Once it’s completely filled in, carefully lift off the stencil and leave the canvas to dry.

Step four
Paint waves along the bottom of the canvas using Resene Art Action Warm Blue and stick two craft eyes onto the frog with PVA. Leave to dry before hanging your frog masterpiece.
