It’s easy to create your very own pet portrait using a few Resene testpots.

Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 66

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: Oval shaped piece of MDF, Paintbrushes, Resene Art Action Quick Dry waterborne primer undercoat, Resene Testpots of Resene Alabaster, Resene Flash Point, Resene Happy Hour, Resene Nero and Resene Subzero

Top tip: If you don’t have any MDF just cut an oval shape from a piece of heavy cardboard instead.

Step 1

Step one
Paint the piece of MDF with one coat of Resene Act Action Quick Dry and allow to dry for two hours.

Step 2

Step two
Paint a 2cm wide strip around the edge of the MDF with two coats of Resene Happy Hour and allow two hours for each coat to dry.

Step 3

Step three
Paint the centre of the MDF with two coats of Resene Flash Point and allow two hours for each coat to dry.

Step 4

Step four
Paint the words ‘My Dog’ at the top and bottom of the piece of MDF using Resene Nero. Try to make the words follow the curve of the outside edge.

Step 5

Step five
Paint the dog’s head in the centre of the MDF using two coats of Resene Alabaster – allow two hours for each coat to dry.

Step 6

Step six
Paint in the eyes with Resene Subzero, and the face and spots with Resene Nero. Allow to dry for two hours. How cool is that?
